Susan Edwards Colson concentrates her practice on Wills, Trusts and Estates. She brings with her over 30 years of legal experience, most recently in working with organizations, business, families and individuals engaged in various states of transition planning. Her mission is to protecting the financial resources, legal rights and dignity of her clients, as well as their families and caregivers.
Her career began in 1980, with several years of litigation experience with Allen County Legal Service, Lima Ohio. She also holds an Ohio Certified Public Account certificate and has taught Individual, Partnership and Corporate Taxation, as well as Financial, Managerial and Intermediate Accounting.
She did her undergraduate work in English at Ohio State University. She received her Juris Doctorate from Cleveland Marshall College of Law, Cleveland, Ohio. She continued to bolster her business background in accounting and finance for CPA eligibility at Ohio Northern University.
She is dedicated to community building, and civic engagement through her professional and volunteer work. She often works with individuals and families, businesses, and foundations to organize, strategize and maximize the impact of their philanthropic initiatives. She is a member of and presenter at the Chicago-based International Advisors in Philanthropy, whose mission is the transformation of philanthropy through collaboration among and between donors and their professional advisors.
She is a former board member of the Westchester Estate Planning Counsel and is a member of the Trusts and Estates sections of the New York State and Westchester County Bar Associations. She is former Vice President and a current program chair for the Westchester Women’s Bar Association.
